When you purchase a song from Song Shapers, you are given the choice of licensing the song with limited rights for a period of time or purchasing the song outright. When you decide to license a song, we give you (the artist) permission to use the song under an exclusive agreement for a certain period of time at a discounted price and you given more privileges than a traditional license would give an artist/company since we are the songwriters and publishers of each song.  This eliminates any middle man or larger company fees that are usually passed onto the artists/companies.

LICENSE DURATION

Song Shapers gives you the choice of 6 months or 18 months to license any song through the website. The more songs you purchase at a time, the more you save! If you purchase 3 or 5 songs at a time, you only pay one small fee to license all the songs combined for the duration of the license. If you only need them for a short term, then you don't need to renew your license. Whenever your licensing term is up for renewal, you can choose to relinquish the song, renew for another 6 or 18 months or purchase the rights.

*When you license a song, you add the license or purchase fee to the purchase price of the song fee.

Example: If 1 song=$500, and you wanted to license the song for 6 months, the total fee would be $500+$100=$600. In 6 months, you would be able to renew the song for 6 more months of use, 18 months or you could decide to purchase the song outright.

WHAT DOES SONG SHAPERS LICENSING ALLOW?

First it's important to know that songs have 6 different types of licensing since they can be used in various ways.

THE BASICS

Our licensing agreement allows you (the artist) to re-record all vocals including melodic & harmonic vocals to the completed instrumental track, but does not allow the instrumental track to be changed in any way. If you need the song to be in a different key for your vocalist or need changes to happen to the final cut, we provide 2 song revisions absolutely free! If you need more than the 2 revisions, you have a 3 day period after receiving your finished songs to request & purchase any additional revisions.

 

We allow our licensed artists to use the song on social media platforms (such as YouTube) for the duration of their license. We make this process easy by explaining how to properly list your PRO, Publisher & Copyright when you stream or sell the song. Even if you've never recorded before and just want a song to get yourself in front of record labels, agents or the world, we make licensing songs easy and affordable!

TYPES OF LICENSING EXPLAINED

 

     *The license agreement that we issue when you purchase a song under our 6-month or 18-month license does NOT include sync licensing.

• Synchronization License (Sync License)-Sync Licensing typically includes Movies (and movie trailers), TV shows, TV/Radio Commercials,  & Video-games. If you are seeking to use Song Shapers music for commercial project, please see our Commercial Music section. Song Shapers does issue Sync Licenses  for Commercials, Film, TV and handles those requests with a separate contract and pricing is per song.    *The license agreement that we issue when you purchase a song under our 6-month or 18-month license DOES include a limited Mechanical License.

• Mechanical License -Mechanical Licensing is the right to record/copy and distribute (without visual images) a song on a material object for private use. Mechanical rights or a mechanical license must be obtained in order to lawfully make and distribute "cover" songs on a record, CD or as a digital file. Song Shapers issues a license that allows the artist to re-record the vocals to the recording for online streaming/sales under their personal, artist or band name for the duration of the license or until the song is purchased. No physical mechanical rights are issued under our 6-month or 18-month song license. This means, artists are not permitted to make, sell or distribute physical CD's of the music under our licensing agreement. The artist may not re-record the music or make any alterations to the musical composition unless the artist purchases the song outright. Once the license expires or is relinquished, the song may be re-issued to a new artist for license/purchase. This means that the song may NOT be streamed or sold by anyone who does not have an active license in place.

   *The license agreement that we issue when you purchase a song under our 6-month or 18-month license DOES include a limited Performance License.

• Performance License-Song Shapers does allow artists to perform the song at nightclubs or non-commercial events as long as they are not signed to a record label and have an active license with us. We also do not take a cut of minor public performance royalties under our licensing agreement. As long as an artist is not performing for a commercial event or under a record label, they are free to perform as long as their license is active. This only applies to live, public performances. Any commercial performance such as television, radio events, etc. need to be directed to our Commercial Music section to obtain a separate license. Song Shapers also allows streaming under the license as long as the PRO, Publisher & songwriter information (as stated in your license agreement) are properly listed when you stream/sell during the duration of the license.

   *The license agreement that we issue when you purchase a song under our 6-month or 18-month license does NOT include Print Licensing..

• Print License-Song Shapers does not include the right to print or alter sheet music of our music. For films seeking music and wish to seek a print license for film work, please visit our Commercial Music section.

   *The license agreement that we issue when you purchase a song under our 6-month or 18-month license does NOT include Theatrical Licensing.

• Theatrical License-Song Shapers does not include theatrical licensing with out 6-month or 18-month song licensing. However, we do write original plays that come with original music & full scripts and licensing is very cost effective. Visit our Commercial Music section to learn more.

   *The license agreement that we issue when you purchase a song under our 6-month or 18-month license does NOT include Master Licensing.

• Master License-A master license differs from a sync license in that a sync license gives the license holder the right to use the composition and re-record a song for use in a media project, while a master license gives the license holder the right to use a previously recorded song in a media project. Song Shapers does not issue master licenses with our 6-month or 18-month license agreements. if you would like to use one of our songs or would like us to create music for your project and then wish to seek a master license to re-record or re-arrange that music, please visit our Commercial Music section.
